The EYFS Curriculum
The EYFS Framework
The EYFS curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning and development that help to shape educational provision in Early Years settings. Three of these areas are prime areas which are the most important and underpin the EYFS as a whole. These are;
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Self-Regulation
- Managing Self
- Building Relationships
- Communication and Language
- Listening, Attention and Understanding
- Speaking
- Physical Development
- Gross Motor Skills
- Fine Motor Skills
There are also four specific areas which complement the three prime areas.

- Writing
- Mathematics
- Number
- Numerical Patterns
- Understanding the World
- Past and Present
- People, Culture and Communities
- The Natural World
- Expressive Arts and Design
